Need A Job?
How to Find Your First Job
Or Even Win Your Dream Job
“The Job Hunter’s Handbook For Teens and Grads”
Dear Unemployed Student,
They say it’s easier to get a job when you’re already working and don’t need one!
When you are still in school and looking for a part time job or a recent graduate looking for that first dream job it can be a bit more difficult!
And now with most countries experiencing an economic slowdown that part time job or dream job is even more difficult to find.
As difficult as it can seem there really are jobs available for those that are willing to put in the effort to find them. The Job Hunter’s Handbook For Teens and Grads has been created to help you obtain those jobs.
What happened?
Somewhere between the “great depression” and the “information age,” job hunting wasn’t the stressful task it is today. A guy like your Dad or your grandfather may have worked the same job until retirement.
After putting in his 20, 30 or 40 years his boss would give him a gold watch and a pension for his faithful years of service.
Sadly, that is no longer the case. Every day we see more and more jobs being eroded by technology or actually re-assigning positions to someone half way across the world!
Over this same period many employers that would hire youth also became bogged down in government regulations. Regulations that prevented them or limited their ability to hire younger people.
So, what can you do about it?
One of the first things you should do is become “pro-active” instead of “reactive.” When companies downsize or let people go those decisions are rarely made in a day. It’s the result of a process. You just aren’t told about it until it’s too late, leaving the worker in a bind. Often those same companies will start to hire people back on a part time basis or perhaps at a lower salary. People with families and serious financial responsibilities may not be in a position to take those lower paying or shorter hour jobs. Thus an opportunity is created for those looking for a part time or first time job. This can also be an opportunity to break into a field that will lead you to that future dream job.
It’s a hunt – know your prey!
